Value of Apprenticeship:

Knowledge is power and comes with education and training.  Apprentice training programs provide training in an organized, structured setting which brings together the fundamental factors necessary to provide skilled tradesmen.

Apprenticeship is the most practical and efficient way of training skilled tradesmen.  It is the oldest method by which an individual can gain the knowledge and experience necessary to enter a skilled trade.

History of the IEC & Apprenticeship Training:

The Independent Electrical Contractors Association (IEC) is a non-profit trade association that has been providing technical electrical training for more than 30 years to over 3,000 member contractors across the U.S.  Over 10,000 people are in our national training programs in over 50 training centers throughout the U.S.

The IEC, South Florida Chapter Apprenticeship Program is a four-year electrical training program which assists in the training of employees of Participating Employers participating in our program.  Our program is not an employer of electrical workers.

Consider these facts about IEC’s training program:

Nationally certified program by the U.S. Department of Labor/Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training (BAT) and the State of Florida/Apprenticeship Council (SAC).

The only State Registered merit shop program in and for Dade County.

A comprehensive four-year program that is reviewed & is frequently updated by IEC National Apprenticeship & Training Committee.

The curriculum is based on the needs of our industry as determined by feedback from members & instructors.

Highly qualified instructors.

Taught in our own state-of-the-art training facility.

Our curriculum is based on 720 hours of classroom instruction and 8,000 of on-the-job-training.

Upon completion of our 4-year program, apprentices will earn approximately 30 college credits which can be used towards obtaining an Associate in Science (AS) “construction related” degree from Miami Dade College –and- receive a Certificate of Completion from the State of Florida.
